Corn futures experienced mixed trading on Tuesday, with prices closing down by as much as 1 ¾ cents, while the national average Cash Corn price fell to $4.35 1/2, a decrease of 1 3/4 cents.
The ProFarmer Crop Tour, which began on Monday, reported South Dakota corn yields averaging 149.09 bushels per acre, down 14.41% from last year and 8.37% below the three-year average. Ohio’s yields are at 180.18 bpa, a decrease of 2.97% from the previous year and 2.25% lower than the three-year average. Results for Indiana and Nebraska are expected later today.
According to the weekly Crop Progress report, the nationwide condition ratings for corn dropped 1% to 60% in good to excellent condition. The Brugler500 index fell 3 points to 353, with significant deteriorations noted in states like Kansas (-18) and South Dakota (-13), while improvements were seen in Nebraska (+2) and North Dakota (+17).
