Tesla’s Current Status and Future Prospects
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has seen its shares dip 20% year-to-date, raising questions about the company’s growth potential. Despite this decline, Tesla’s business remains rooted in electric vehicles (EVs), particularly with the Model Y being the world’s most popular vehicle for three consecutive years. Key to its future success is the much-anticipated robotaxi project, which aims to deploy a fleet of 1 million vehicles by 2031.
Analysts estimate that if Tesla achieves this goal, each robotaxi could generate approximately $146,000 annually, translating to $146 billion in revenue. Currently, Tesla’s trailing revenue and net income stand at $103.6 billion and $3.9 billion, respectively. While such ambitions carry significant risks and uncertainties, achieving them could lead to a market cap of about $2.3 trillion by 2031, assuming a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio adjustment.
