Amazon’s cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services (AWS), posted a remarkable 37% year-over-year growth in Q2 2026, contributing 21% of the company’s total revenue and 60% of its operating profits. AWS currently holds a dominant market share of approximately 28%, significantly outpacing its competitors, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, which have 15% and 20%, respectively.
The company plans to invest around $220 billion in computing infrastructure this year, aiming to enhance its capacity amid rising demand. CEO Andy Jassy indicated that AWS may struggle to meet all available demand as far out as 2028, further solidifying Amazon’s long-term growth potential in the AI sector.
