Cotton Market Faces Challenges This Thursday

Cotton futures are experiencing declines, with contracts down 85 to 109 points as of Thursday. The USDA’s Crop Production report indicated a decrease in cotton output by 90,000 bales to 13.61 million, while acreage increased to 10.47 million acres. The yield was reduced by 74 lbs per acre to 798 lbs.

In the week ending August 6, export sales registered 778,939 RB carried over from the 2025/26 marketing year, alongside new sales of 126,050 RB. Shipments amounted to 208,374 RB. The Cotlook A Index rose by 50 points to 94.95 cents, and ICE certified cotton stocks fell by 2,977 bales to 77,764 bales as of August 12.

As for current prices, October Cotton is at 82.12 cents (down 109 points), December Cotton at 83.53 cents (down 85 points), and March Cotton at 85.38 cents (down 94 points).
