Apple Reduces EU App Store Commission

Apple announced a reduction in its standard App Store commission from 30% to 26%, effective October 1, 2026. This change, following collaborations with the European Commission, also simplifies fees for developers, introducing a flat 5% commission for apps distributed outside of the App Store. Additionally, apps using alternative payment processing will incur a 20% commission, while those that link out to complete purchases will pay 15% for a limited time.

The European Commission previously fined Apple 500 million euros in 2025 for anti-competitive practices. Following the announcement, the Commission expressed approval of the new terms, indicating a potential resolution to ongoing regulatory disputes. Apple’s EU revenue from the App Store accounts for approximately 7% of its global earnings.
