Cloudflare (NYSE: NET) is expanding its focus on agentic artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its network architecture for low-latency, secure AI inference workloads, according to Chief Financial Officer Thomas Seifert during an investor event. Following a shift from improving sales productivity, the company now views its business as a series of “acts,” which include core network offerings, AI products, and initiatives to help content creators monetize their work. Cloudflare has raised its long-term growth target from 40% to 50% and expects momentum towards that objective by year-end.

During the second quarter, Cloudflare added 2 million developers, with notable companies like OpenAI and Figma building on its Workers platform. Seifert highlighted that around 80% of significant AI enterprise customers utilize Cloudflare services, which is indicative of growing demand. As companies shift to consumption-driven models, Cloudflare is re-evaluating its forecasting processes to align infrastructure data more effectively.

Cloudflare is concentrating on AI inference rather than large model training, utilizing its optimized network for workload scheduling. The company plans to invest in infrastructure responsive to demand signals while exploring opportunities for enterprise-specific AI use cases. Additionally, Cloudflare is working on monetization tools for content creators, including a “pay per crawl” model, and is collaborating with major financial companies like Visa and Mastercard to facilitate autonomous transactions in the AI economy.
