Corn futures rose by 6 to 7 cents on Monday, with the CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price increasing by 6.5 cents to $4.20. The USDA reported a private export sale of 100,000 metric tons of corn to Colombia for the 2026/27 marketing year.
In the week of July 16, corn shipments totaled 1.55 million metric tons (60.7 million bushels), marking only a 0.31% decrease from the previous week but up 57.36% from same week last year. Cumulative shipments for the marketing year have reached 73.77 million metric tons (2.904 billion bushels), representing a 25.42% year-over-year increase. Additionally, managed money increased their net long positions in corn futures by 30,732 contracts, bringing the total to 43,391 contracts as of July 14.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s AgRural reports that only 49% of the Brazilian second corn crop has been harvested, falling behind last year’s progress of 55%. Weather forecasts indicate 1–2 inches of precipitation expected in parts of the Midwest, with lesser amounts anticipated across the remaining Corn Belt.
