Cotton Prices Surge During Afternoon Trading Session

Cotton futures are experiencing gains, trading up 193 to 276 points at midday, with July 26 cotton at 83.37 cents, December 26 at 83.89 cents, and March 27 at 84.48 cents. As of May 15, the Cotlook A Index decreased by 275 points, settling at 93.90 cents. Managed money has increased its net long position in cotton futures and options by 8,386 contracts, totaling 59,570 contracts for the week ending May 12.

In related agricultural news, the White House announced on Sunday that China is committed to purchasing at least $17 billion annually in U.S. agricultural products for 2026-2028 as part of ongoing trade discussions. Additionally, ICE certified cotton stocks rose by 324 bales to reach 193,438 bales, while the Adjusted World Price increased by 228 points to 71.87 cents per pound.
