Market Update on the S&P 500 Growth Index
As of June 30, 2026, the Vanguard S&P 500 Growth ETF has shown resilience, maintaining its performance relative to the broader S&P 500 despite a lackluster first half for the “Magnificent Seven” stocks—Nvidia, Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Tesla, Meta Platforms, and Microsoft. This group represents 50.8% of the Vanguard ETF’s market capitalization and has a combined valuation of $21 trillion, constituting 34.3% of the S&P 500’s total market cap. Notably, Microsoft’s share decreased by 22.9%, the worst performer among the group.
Historically, the Vanguard S&P 500 Growth ETF has delivered a compound annual return of 16.9% since its inception in 2010, compared to the S&P 500’s 15.1% over the same period. Analysts anticipate a possible turnaround in the second half of 2026 for these key stocks, which could further enhance the ETF’s return potential.
