Hogs Face Stiff Challenges This Monday

**Lean Hogs Market Update – June 26, 2023**

Lean hog futures experienced losses of $0.75 to $1.12 at the close, with July futures gaining $0.35 to end at $99.85. The USDA reported a national base hog price of $93.86 on Monday, an increase of $0.63 from the previous day, while the CME Lean Hog Index rose by $0.48 to $91.40.

USDA’s Monday PM pork carcass cutout value was recorded at $99.75 per cwt, up $0.30. Key components such as loin, butt, and rib primals showed reductions in value. Additionally, federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 476,000 head, which is a rise of 12,461 head compared to the same Monday last year.
