**Lean Hog Futures Up**: On Friday, lean hog futures increased, with contracts rising between 25 cents and $1.37, and August contracts gaining $2.65 over the week. USDA reported a national base hog price of $99.32, a decrease of 94 cents from the previous day. The CME Lean Hog Index rose by 50 cents to $95.10 as of July 15.

**Market Insights**: The CFTC Commitment of Traders report indicated that managed money added 1,436 contracts to their net short position, totaling 30,438 contracts by July 14. USDA estimated that last week’s federally inspected hog slaughter totaled 2.31 million head, 54,000 head lower than the week prior and 23,497 head below the same week last year.

**Closing Prices**: For August 26, lean hogs closed at $101.650 (up $1.375), October 26 at $87.950 (up $1.025), and December 26 at $78.775 (up $0.825).
