Energy and Utilities Sectors Lead Hold Steady Despite Market Dip

The midday trading session on Monday revealed that the Energy sector is the best performer, only down 0.2%. Within this sector, Schlumberger Ltd (Symbol: SLB) and APA Corp (Symbol: APA) are notable stocks, with gains of 2.1% and 0.4%, respectively. The Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLE), an ETF tracking this sector, is down 0.1% today but has seen a year-to-date increase of 10.29%. However, on a year-to-date basis, Schlumberger Ltd is down 16.19%, and APA Corp has dropped 27.49%. Together, these two companies represent roughly 5.0% of XLE’s holdings.

Utilities Sector Also Holds Its Ground

Following closely, the Utilities sector has lost just 0.5%. Noteworthy stocks in this area include Constellation Energy Corp (Symbol: CEG) and Public Service Enterprise Group Inc (Symbol: PEG), which have seen gains of 0.7% and 0.5%, respectively. The Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLU), which tracks utilities stocks, is down 0.5% in trading but up 31.30% year-to-date. Constellation Energy Corp has increased by 133.64% so far this year, while Public Service Enterprise Group Inc is up by 50.43%. CEG and PEG together account for about 10.3% of XLU’s underlying holdings.
