Tesla Cybercab Launch Updates

Tesla has launched its Cybercab hardware while the corresponding full-self-driving (FSD) version 15 software remains in development. The rollout has been slower than expected, with CEO Elon Musk indicating hopes for its release by early next year. Currently, early versions of the v15 software are being tested in the fleet, although it is not yet ready for widespread use.

The Cybercab is poised to leverage significant cost-saving innovations, such as avoiding rare-earth materials, using electric brakes, and employing a lower-cost in-house battery. Its manufacturing process will also be more efficient, potentially allowing for competitive pricing against rivals like Waymo. However, regulatory hurdles and production uncertainties continue to pose risks to its market introduction.
