Tesla’s Robotaxi Expansion Update
Tesla currently operates 39 unsupervised robotaxis across Austin, Dallas, and Houston, significantly up from nine in early April and 26 in early May. CEO Elon Musk indicated during the last earnings call that further deployment of unsupervised robotaxis will await the release of version 15 of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) software, expected by early 2027.
As part of its growth strategy, Tesla is also preparing to launch its robotaxi services in new cities, including Phoenix, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Las Vegas. Investors can consider this strategy as a sign of positive momentum, although a widespread rollout is not anticipated until the new software version is validated and launched.
