Cloud Computing Giants Report Strong Growth in Q2

Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Meta Platforms have reported significant growth in their latest quarterly earnings, highlighting a resurgence among major cloud computing providers. Amazon’s cloud unit, AWS, posted Q2 revenue of $42.2 billion, up 37% year-on-year, while its operating income rose 63% to $16.6 billion. The company also noted that its chip and AI divisions have reached a revenue run rate of $25 billion.

Meta Platforms’ revenue increased 28% in Q2, driven by a 14% rise in ad impressions and a 12% increase in average ad prices, showcasing the efficiency of its AI implementations. Alphabet’s Google Cloud saw an 82% revenue surge to $24.8 billion, with operating income more than tripling to $8.8 billion, signifying strong growth in its core search and AI-powered solutions. Microsoft reported a 43% increase in Azure revenue, supported by a robust backlog of $678 billion, indicating strong growth potential.
