Uber Technologies has partnered with Autobrains and Nvidia to launch a robotaxi program in Munich, integrating Uber’s ride-hailing platform with Autobrains’ autonomous driving technology and Nvidia’s Level 4 autonomous vehicle platform. The initiative aims to establish commercially viable autonomous mobility, with regulatory approvals pending for a launch in Munich, selected for its robust automotive ecosystem and infrastructure.
This collaboration combines three essential elements for scaling robotaxi services: Autobrains’ driving intelligence, Nvidia’s DRIVE Hyperion platform, and Uber’s extensive ride-hailing network. The program seeks to overcome challenges in autonomous driving commercialization by utilizing standard automotive sensors and efficient computing, promoting an OEM-agnostic approach for deployment across various vehicle manufacturers.
Uber aims to enhance its position in the robotaxi space through partnerships, streamlining access for automakers to participate in autonomous ride-hailing. Earlier this year, Uber also partnered with Amazon’s Zoox for deploying purpose-built robotaxis, further diversifying its strategy in autonomous transportation.
