IonQ has signed three new agreements in August to expand its quantum computing capabilities. The first, with Canadian Microelectronics Corporation (CMC Microsystems), includes a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that allows IonQ to be a listed cloud quantum computing access provider for the Quantum Computing Sandbox (QCS), serving Canadian academics and SMEs.
Additionally, IonQ’s MOU with Sandia National Laboratories aims to advance U.S. national security through research in quantum information science. Finally, IonQ will invest $15 million over five years to establish the Tennessee Quantum Communications Research Center in Chattanooga, marking it as a dedicated lab for next-generation quantum communication connected to a real-world network.
IonQ’s stock has increased by 19.6% over the past year, significantly underperforming compared to the industry average growth of 225.2% in the same period. The company currently carries a forward price-to-sales ratio of 44.31X, exceeding the industry average of 5.68X.
