Key Thursday Options Activity: VRT, UBER, and C Stocks

Among the underlying components of the S&P 500, notable options trading volume was observed on October 4, 2023. Vertiv Holdings Co (VRT) experienced a trading volume of 20,329 contracts, equating to approximately 2.0 million underlying shares—about 50% of its average daily volume of 4.1 million shares over the past month. High activity was particularly marked for the $175 strike put option expiring on September 18, 2026, which accounted for 2,585 contracts traded.

In comparison, Uber Technologies Inc (UBER) reported an options volume of 82,824 contracts, or around 8.3 million underlying shares, which is 48% of its average daily volume of 17.3 million shares. The $79 strike call option expiring on September 4, 2026, saw 5,434 contracts traded. Citigroup Inc (C) also showed significant options activity with 36,489 contracts (approximately 3.6 million underlying shares), representing about 44.1% of its average daily volume of 8.3 million shares, with 3,501 of those in the $140 strike call option expiring on September 18, 2026.
