The Future Shines Bright for Juanicipio
The potential at the Juanicipio Project seems to glitter like silver itself as MAG Silver Corp. (MAG) unveils its preliminary 2024 guidance. According to Fresnillo (FNLPF), the operator of the project, the silver head grade at Juanicipio is expected to range between 380 grams per ton (g/t) and 420 g/t, hinting at tremendous silver production prospects. The facility anticipates operating at nameplate capacity every operating day with an impressive effective utilization rate of 91%.
The Juanicipio Project officially kickstarted commercial production on Jun 1, 2023, marking a major milestone for MAG Silver’s transition from a developer to a full-fledged producer. Situated in Zacatecas, Mexico, the Juanicipio Project is a joint endeavor between MAG and FNLPF. While MAG Silver owns a 44% stake in the project, Fresnillo holds the remaining 56%.
Nestled in the heart of the Fresnillo Silver Trend in Mexico, which stands as one of the world’s most esteemed silver mining hubs, the project is not just about underground mine production and mineralized material processing. MAG Silver is actively engaged in an expansive exploration program targeting multiple promising areas in the region.
Looking ahead, MAG is gearing up to release an updated technical report by the close of the first quarter of 2024, providing more precise guidance and fortifying its vision for the Juanicipio Mine.
Undoubtedly, the Juanicipio Project made waves in the final quarter of 2023, boasting a production of 4.5 million ounces of silver and 10,591 ounces of gold. This brings the total output for 2023 to 16.8 million silver ounces and 36,732 gold ounces. These figures underline a resilient performance, especially considering that 2023 was the project’s debut year undergoing ramp-up.
In the fourth quarter alone, Juanicipio processed an impressive 346,766 tons of mineralized material, registering an uptick from the 322,249 tons processed in the preceding quarter. This increase mirrors MAG Silver’s relentless commitment to improving production levels and optimizing operational efficiency. Throughout the entire year, Juanicipio successfully processed a total of 1,268,756 tons of mineralized material.
